We had a slightly smaller class today as some finished up their marathon stories. I’ve seen some wonderful work by all so far, and I hope you enjoyed the day.
Please spend some time watching or reading your colleagues’ work:
- Joe, Joey and Kevin’s starting line video
- Brooke and Sarah’s restaurant piece
- Charles’ medical tent dispatch
- Monica and Andrew’s Patriots Day video previously shown in class
Otherwise today, we had some time to discuss planning and organization for enterprise-length articles. There are several examples in Blackboard that you could read and include the last four stories in the Web Links section: The Looming Threat of Avian Flu, Final story subheads inspiration, Subheads inspiration #2, and For Whom the Bell Tolls at Arlington Street Church.
FINAL PITCHES: If I requested that you rewrite your final story pitch, please send those to me as soon as possible. I’ve decided to grade these because they are very important to your planning and writing process.
HOMEWORK for Thursday, please bring a photo from your beat that you have taken for our final dispatch. This can be anything you like, with or without people. Please plan to have it accessible during class Thursday.
